Lyrics

CROW
It all came down to ashes after all these years
she found him dead at the mission motel
surrounded by hobo's and tears
and the girl who stole his heart so many years ago
dropped by that motel room just to let those hobo's know
that once upon a time he used make us laugh
and once upon a time we shared a photograph
once upon a time we used to call him crow
he was a summer moon he was a midnight tune
and oh we loved him so...the story of the crow
she told those hobo's about crow's daddy
who used his hands in every way
for holding whisky bottles collecting pay cheques
or plowing down anything in is way
he even used those hands to hit the boy some days
but the crow would always shrug it off and say
once upon a time he used make us laugh
and once upon a time we shared a photograph
once upon a time we used to call him dad
he was a midnight rambler he was a drunken gambler
and oh we loved him so...the father of the crow
so tell me
yeah tell me
where do crows fly
i don't know
go ask crow
graveyards feel so empty when no one knows your name
the preacher held crow's ashes up said a couple prayers
and thanked the few folks that came
then he talked about some god who sent down his only son
said he walked the world alone until his whole world became undone
he said once upon a time a wise man in his youth
he walked the razors edge and he always spoke the truth
he said once upon a time we used to call him GOD
he was a summer moon he was a gentle tune
and oh we loved him so
i guess a bit like crow
so tell me
yeah tell me
where do crows fly
i don't know
go ask crow
